Sun Prairie Wellness Coalition is here to help families and community members! If you need information about specific substance use or mental health concerns, please refer to the Substance Use Prevention and Mental Health tabs. If you can’t find the information you need there, please email us at spwellnesscoalition@gmail.com and we’ll work with you to find the information you need!

Alcohol and the Teen Brain Brochure. Parents, teachers or anyone who talks with youth about substance use can use this colorful one-page brochure to help explain the effects of alcohol on developing brains. Spanish language edition available too! 

Operation Parent: Operation Parent provides practical, prevention-focused resources to help parents navigate addressing technology use, mental health, substance use, and risky behaviors with their children. Check out their website here!

Free Resources for Substance Use Prevention

Medication Lock Boxes and Bags: We have lockable storage boxes in three sizes and lockable zipper bags. Keeping prescription drugs and THC containing oils, edibles and liquids locked up keeps everyone in your house safe! These are available at the Sun Prairie Wellness Coalition. Email us at spwellnesscoalition@gmail.com and we’ll arrange a pick-up location and time.                                                                                                                      

Drug disposal: Deterra kits allow you to safely discard prescription medications in your garbage without the medications entering the water system. Kits are available at the Sun Prairie Wellness Coalition. Email us at spwellnesscoalition@gmail.com and we’ll arrange a pick-up location and time.

Medication Drop Boxes: It is important to do your part to keep prescription drug medications out of your homes; out of our water; and out of the reach of children! Properly dispose of your unused, unwanted or expired medication! A Drug Drop Box is located at 300 E Main St. It is free, safe, anonymous and available 24/7!

Refrigerator Locks: Current research indicates that students often access alcohol at home. In an effort to prevent underage drinking, we are giving away refrigerator locks to anyone in the community who would like one. If you or someone you know has a beer or wine fridge, especially if it's in the garage or basement, contact us to get your free lock, and help to keep all our kids safe. Email us at spwellnesscoalition@gmail.com and we’ll arrange a pick-up location and time. 

Bottle Locks: Current research indicates that students often access alcohol at home. We are giving away bottle locks to anyone in the community who would like one. If you or someone you know has bottles of liquor, beer, or wine at home, contact us to get free locks, and help to keep all our kids safe. Email us at spwellnesscoalition@gmail.com and we’ll arrange a pick-up location and time. 

Free Resources for Substance Use Harm Reduction

Narcan: Narcan (naloxone) is a medication that rapidly reverses the effects of an opioid overdose. Even if you are unsure if opioids are involved, it will not harm a person who has not taken opioids. It is safe for anyone to administer, even without medical training. You never know when an overdose might happen and by having access to it, you could safe a life! Contact us at spwellnesscoalition@gmail.com if you would like to pick up a free two-dose Narcan administration kit. 

Fentanyl Test Strips: Fentanyl test strips are small strips of paper that can detect the presence of fentanyl in different kinds of drugs and drug forms (pills, powder, and injectables). These test strips can provide people who use drugs about fentanyl in drugs and allow them to take steps to reduce their risk of overdose. Resources for Community Organizations & Businesses

Hidden in Plain Sight Demonstration: Sun Prairie Wellness Coalition staff can come to your event, meeting or business and provide you with a hands-on Hidden in Plain Sight experience. Innocent looking common items like water bottles and soda cans that contain a “stash” compartment are widely available. Do you know what to look for? Vape Escape: Vape Escape is an innovative, interactive approach to vaping prevention! Participants are trapped in a room with teens who are vaping and they must solve puzzles and use the information to convince them that vaping is unhealthy. Contact us at spwellnesscoalition@gmail.com if you would like to arrange a time to use the Vape Escape kit. 

Narcan Training: Learn the signs of overdose and how to administer naloxone. Participants receive a two-dose Narcan administration kit. Virtual or in-person training available. Please contact us at spwellnesscoalition@gmail.com to arrange a training.

988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline Materials: Sun Prairie Wellness Coalition has 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline Materials such as posters, business cards, and warning signs cards in English and Spanish. If your organization or business would like any of these materials, contact us at spwellnesscoalition@gmail.com.
